Italy: Aventine hill

On our last evening in Rome we went up to Aventine hill. Yes it goes with the match set of Palantine and Capitoline hills. We weren't sure what we would find but it seemed like a good way to round out our stay.
It was beautiful and peaceful and the sunset was gorgeous. There were no ruins, just old churches and houses and cobble stone streets. We found a little park with a look out over the city. The park was full of Italians rather than international tourists. Everyone was just enjoying a relaxing evening rather than running around trying to see everything. The air was warm and breezy and smelled of flowers.

It was a pretty perfect end to a wonderful stay in the ancient city.
