Honestly, while Frankfurt is a great city and hosts the biggest car shows, book fairs, furniture shows etc. the Europe touristy stuff to do there is less cool than in other cities. So, we hightailed it down to Heidelberg, a town known to the world (at least in the 1800s and early 1900s) as a romantic and picturesque town.
The downtown by the main train station has probably been updated since the romantics were making their tour books but we were still able to find a picturesque giraffe sculpture.
Though finding our bikes proved to be somewhat more difficult.
So instead we took the train down to the romantic old town and the castle.
The town was a well maintained well restored Renaissance town. With cute houses, a cute bridge, and cute shops. 
The roads were steep and from every where you could see the castle 
We found some exciting sights too. Like that the band I loved in high school was doing a reunion tour through Heidelberg. Unfortunately not on the day we were there.
And the baboon sculpture that has a hollow head so you can wear its face like a mask. 
And my old mission apartment. It was right where I left it. No one was home, typical.
And what could be more romantic in a romantic town than the Kiss chocolates?
Oh, that is an excessively cute town.
